How an engagement starts

No surprises in the first close

Most of the work in a handover happens before the first month we actually book. We would rather find the gap in your opening balances in week one than in the year-end audit file.

Fees are agreed in writing before any work starts, based on transaction volume, payroll headcount and the reporting you need — never on a share of any tax outcome.

  1. Scoping conversation

We look at your current bookkeeping, filing history and reporting needs, and tell you plainly what we would take on and what we would not.

  2. Written engagement terms

Scope, responsibilities, deadlines, fee basis and data-protection terms, signed by both sides before we touch a ledger.

  3. Handover and opening balances

We take the records from your previous provider, reconcile the opening balances and flag anything that needs correcting.

  4. Monthly rhythm

Bookkeeping, VAT and payroll on a fixed calendar, with a named contact who knows your file and answers within one business day.

Audit thresholds. We can tell you whether you are approaching the thresholds; the audit itself is performed by the auditor your shareholders appoint.
